KKS 8 Swatch Book of Thankfulness

This month, the KK8 team is making swatch books so that we can write what we are thankful for. I'm thankful for friends and family and the beautiful life I am fortunate enough to live everyday. What are you thankful for?

My swatch book was created from cardstock. it folds outward, so that once everyone has written their thankful thoughts, they can be seen while the book is sitting out on display. I got this idea from a retreat that I attended earlier this year and I can't to pass this around on Thanksgiving Day.

Hope you enjoy! Until next time my friends!

Have a great weekend and wonderful Thanksgiving!

National Honey Month and Kids Creative Week

September is National Honey month and Kids Creative Week is 22-28. The KK8 DT has created a card, layout or project that has kids and Winnie the Pooh it in because we all know Pooh loves his honey and what kid can resist that lovable huggable bear Winnie the pooh.

Here is my layout:

I used my Silhouette Cameo to make the orange border It was cut as a 12x12 background but I only used a quarter of it. I then took a blue piece of cardstock and cut out a triangle and layered all of that onto yellow cardstock for added interest. Lastly, I found the pooh image online and printed it with my printer.  I then used my Silhouette Cameo to cut it out.  The quote which I found on Pinterest was also printed, cut down to size and then layered onto the orange cardstock.

A really quick and simple page with a ton of character,  my son! Thanks for stopping by.
Hope you enjoy!

Kraftie Kre8ations - Thankfulness and Celebrations Blog Hop

Hello, Hello, Hello and Welcome to another fabulous Kraftie Kre8ations Blog Hop. Although the heat here in Texas is still a-blazin' fall is right around the corner. Carnivals, State Fairs, Football, Halloween, Thanksgiving and such much more reminds me of what a wonderful time of year this is and why I love it so much.

The theme of this hop is Thankfulness and Celebrations. I don't know about you, but I have a lot to celebrate and to be thankful for during this time of year. I met my husband in November, we were married in November and my oldest son was born in November.

During this time of year I always enjoy the warm colors of red, gold and brown which makes this month hop extra fun!

Here was our challenge: Our color palette is an amazing representation of the changing colors of trees in the fall. You can create ANY project related to the Fall to include the best thankfulness day of all, Thanksgiving. It can be a layout, card, mixed media project or altered item. The sky is the limit!
So for my project, I went to an old favorite. The Cornucopia. It represents abundance and thankfulness. My abundance includes, my family, our well being and our health. When it comes down to it, those are the things that really matter. Here is my project:
The cornucopia was a cut file from the Silhouette Store. The paper used to make it was the Reflections Collection by Lori Whitlock. I love the colors in that collection and they were perfect for this challenge.
The leaves were made with Stampin Up cardstock in Colonial White. I cut them by also using an image file from the Silhouette Studio image library. I then embossed them with my cuttlebug using several different folders. Next I laid them out and sprayed them with various spray inks from Dylusions, Lindy's Stamp Gang, Glimmer Mist and Perfect Pearls. Lastly, I lightly ink them with a cosmetic sponge and a Memento Dye Ink pad in Rich Cocoa. I love the way they came out and as much as I would like to say this was my own idea. It was not. Here is the video tutorial I watched to make them: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s5k4Rxa4C44. These leaves are super easy to make and lots of fun. I plan to make tons more.
Lastly, the pumpkin that sorta looks like an apple, but it's really a pumpkin...LOL. This was also a cut file using Silhouette Studio and the patterned paper is also from the Reflections collection by Lori Whitlock.
I hope you've enjoyed my project, I had a lot of fun making it.

I encourage you to continue on with the hop, the line up is below. Also if you didn't know, we started this hop on Sept. 12th, so be sure to go back and check out everyone's projects and leave a comment. We love to read what you guys have to say.

Time to get Hoppin" !

Ok all you creative and crafty folks, the time has finally arrived. The Blog Hop is here! If you came here from Charmagne Welchs' blog at http://www.sanurascraps.blogspot.com, then you are in the right place!

If not, you can start the Hop by visiting Shavon Borders Blog at http://scrappingvon.blogspot.com, and believe me you won't want to miss any of the beautiful creations these ladies have come up with.

Being apart of the Kraftie Kre8ations design team and participating in this hop has been nothing but fun and I'm glad to be here.

My first project for this hop is an ATC that shares a little about me. So here it is:

Life is Good ATC - Front View

So how in the world does this describe me?? Well, I'm so glad you asked!
I am a lover of all things mixed media and try to incorporate it in to all of my projects. So for this one, the chipboard was first covered with a decorative napkin that I crinkled up for texture, stamped with a music notes stamp and then I used a stencil with Modeling Paste and paint to add some additional texture to all of that.

I am also a lover of lace, particularly white lace that I can alter to any color I choose. This also leans to my personality as I don't like to be limited when it comes to options. Soooo, that's exactly what I did here. I used Dylusions Lemon Zest ink spray.

The wooden numbers represent the birthdates of myself (18), my husband (21) and my kids (26 & 8). The 21 has a crown because he is my king.  The clock represents the passing of time as my kids are getting older. My oldest is starting his first year of high school this year. Where has the time gone??? My youngest will be starting 4th grade, I still remember his first day of kindergarten.

The music note and butterfly are just a few of my favorite things and the bicycle pays homage to my husband and his favorite hobby of finding and riding all the bike trails in our city.

Finally, the hearts and the quote represent my love for this thing called "Life".

So now for more crafty goodness...
My next assignment is to show off some of my other favorite projects AND a brand new project made just for YOU!!!  I will also be telling you a little more about me so keep reading!

Chipboard "K"

So my real name is Vikisha, but everyone calls me Kisha, so I thought this "K" would be appropriate to go in my craft space.  I love the way it turned out.

What is my crafty "Kryptonite" ?

Oh this is EAAASYYY. GLITTER, GLITTER, GLITTER. The funny thing is, I of course have a ton of it...LOL! I NEVER USE IT! I can't stand how it gets EVERYWHERE! I will always reach for stickles.

What do I listen to or watch while crafting?

Hmmm, I had to really think about this one, because it depends on my mood or how bad the kids have annoyed me and whether or not I am craving some peace and quiet...LOL. Most times though, I am probably listening (rarely actually watching) to the TV or Netflix, if I can't find anything on TV. You might also catch me listening, singing and "chair" dancing to some of my favorite artists.

Chubby Chic Canvas

This canvas is on my favs list because it was my first canvas project.  Now I'm addicted!  There is stamping, rub-ons, modeling paste, patterned paper, lace and of course my lovely Chubby Chic! She's just a little chunky..JUST LIKE ME...LOL!!

How do I just start my creativity?

I pretty much just jump right in and see what happens, literally. I rarely have a plan to any project I approach. If I am completely lost then I run headfirst to Goolgle or Pintrest. I like being able to scroll through and look at the pictures. The bad part though is that I am EASILY distracted. A 10 minute search will lead to two hours and STILL haven't started the project...LOL.  I also work so much better under pressure. I am the BIGGEST procrastinator. Probably because I haven't planned....LOL, but I do feel like the pressure helps me to focus and knock out some nice projects.

Now my new project is up next.
This tag was created just for you guys!! The theme is "Dream".

This is a huge kraft tag that I bought at Hobby Lobby. It measures 4 1/8 x 8 1/2. As usual, I had no idea what I was going to do with this Gi-Normous tag.

I am absolutely IN LOVE with the way it turned out and I hope you enjoy it too!

Well that's all for now folks. I hope you've enjoyed the hop!

Artist Trading Card....Check!

As a new designer for Kraftie Kre8ations, I figured that I would be faced with various projects and challenges that would take me out of my comfort zone.

So I decided to step out on my own and try my hand at making my first ATC (artist trading card). I bought a piece of foam board from Michael's and cut it down to the correct ATC size of 2.5 inches x 3.5 inches. Ok, so it's cut to size, now what?!?!? I had no idea what to do next...LOL. Pinterest to the rescue...LOL. I got tons of ideas and then couldn't decide what I wanted to do...LOL.

Finally, I decided to cover the base of the ATC with Gesso and sprayed it with Red Dylusions spray ink. Then covered that with a piece of music note covered fabric. You can barely see a hit of the red in the inside of the heart. The heart is by Heidi Swapp, that was in my stash. I had previously sprayed it with ink, so I don't remember what color I used.

For some reason, I've really been into crowns and keys lately so I decided to add a crown to the heart. I painted it with a Ranger Distress Stain in Gold. The flower was also from my stash. When I first got my Ranger melting pot, I dipped every flower I could get my hands on in the wax...LOL!

Finally, the bird is a piece of chipboard from the Michael's dollar bin. It was also painted with Ranger Distress Stains in Silver and Blue. For texture, I add a small piece of burlap along the bottom.

This ATC was a ton of fun to make and I can't wait to do another one! I have successfully stepped out of my comfort zone ok and unscathed...LOL! You should try it too!

I am ArtSeRae!

A little over six months ago, I discovered the world of Mixed Media, Art Journaling and Altered Art. Painting, Drawing, Creating…Oh My! I carefully studied YouTube videos, pinned beautiful pictures on Pinterest and find more than enough blogs to follow to make my inspiration cup runneth over. I had finally found what I’d be running from all these years. I’d found my creative niche’. Did you hear me??? MY creative niche’. Keyword here…creative! I can be creative! I can do art! I am an artist! I found a place where I can do what I want and how I want. Messy, no rules and unrestrained…I am in love. I discovered that after all these years of telling myself, “you can’t paint”, “you can’t draw”, “you can’t create beautiful art that others can/will admire”, well guess what I CAN, I DID and I WILL!! Join me as I venture down this winding, humbling road of self-discovery that is sure to include, new challenges, ink stained hands, painted canvases and lots and lots of glue!
